Title: GroovyMame no game output
Post by: TexasRED on May 02, 2020, 06:03:42 pm
Hello,

I'm in the process of standing up CRT Emu\GM and I think I'm close, but I am having an issue where there no game or menu is displayed out of GM. I can see switchres is trying to do its thing, but then GM exits and I get put back to console.

I'm running win10 64 with a HD7570. Running groovymame64_0220.017p.  CRT Emu seems to be fully installed from what I can tell.

Two game logs are attached. Any advice would be great!

Do you hear music or sounds? It seems another problem not related with groovymame.

Test before with regular mame if game starts.

Some updates and data points:

There was no sound or video either, just an immediate bail. Looks like this is related to d3d somehow. When changing mame video it to gdi (I know its not supported just fishing for data points) mame stays up but I can't see a picture.

So I'm thinking its some sort of driver issue and not GM. Dxdiag reports "D3D Status: Not Available" as well.  I'm planning to purge the existing CRT emu drivers and try to reinstall.

Solved!

Yes, it was a driver issue. I had to reinstall the drivers in safe mode for them to fully kick in.  Just a regular reinstall did not take (and it blue screened on me once). Weird cause it was displaying everything fine.

Also solved my Hyperspin and HyperHQ not loading.

Onward...
