Title: Rotary Joystick in MAME
Post by: mrlee on April 24, 2020, 12:05:47 pm
Hi Everyone!

Long time since I have been in here!

Since the lock down I though I would update my cab with a new PC since its been gathering dust in the garage it did look a sorry state.

I have managed to get it all working again with a new PC and Hyperspin. I have been so out of touch with this stuff its took ages!!!

My problem is I have a HAPP rotary connected and it has always worked great. I'm guessing since its been a new install there have been some settings I have
missed or something else I have not done.

The stick works fine in notepad  ][  but in IKARI the character does not rotate. What do I need to do in mame again please?

Many thanks its been a very long time, 10 years in fact!!

The rotation settings are in the "Input (this Game)" menu.
-  Positional Analog Dec (turn left, default key is Z)
-  Positional Analog Inc (turn right, default key is X)

Here are the three other mechanical rotary joystick settings from the wiki (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/Joysticks#MAME_Settings_for_Mechanical_Rotary_Joysticks).
Quote
For mechanical rotary games:

"Input (this Game)" menu

    Positional Analog to none

"Analog Controls" menu

    Positional Digital Speed = 0
    Positional Sensitivity = 100

Those five settings should have you up and running with all of the mechanical rotary joystick games (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/Joysticks#Mechanical_Rotary_Joystick_Games_.28LS-30.2C_Happ_Mechanical_Rotary_Sticks.29).
