Getting ready to wire up my cp to a KEYWIZ MAX and need a little guidance. I have never used one of these as i have always used ipacs. I am not sure if there is a recommended method for wiring this up. In other words, on the keywiz, it shows on the one side the letters......U, D, L R, which i assume are supposed to before the arrow keys, but then right under that there is a U1, D2 etc...
So, to make life a little less complicated can someone let me know what is the best way to wire the keywiz to each particular joystick and buttons, so i wont have a big conflict within mame. In a nutshell, i just want to know what is going to give me mame compatibility out the box. Kind of like IPACS MAME or ALT function, i guess.
thanks ,

You have gotten a sheet that describes the basic Rom information. As well as the alternate Ram Information.
With that sheet I just plugged everything in, and boom worked the first time.

Actualy, I'm using your pics from this thread for reference http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=15963;start=msg125697#msg125697
In the second pic on the left, you have
U1
D1
L1
R1
U2
D2
L2
R2
These are Up, Down, Left, and Right for Joystick 1 and Up, Down, Left and Right for Joystick 2, respectively. (I recommend wiring these this way as the shift function won't work with these terminals.
On the right is 1-8 for the Player 1 buttons
On the bottom A-H are the Player 2 button 1-8 and I through P are admin buttons.

No prob. Also, http://www.groovygamegear.com/screenshots.html (second graphic) has the default key assignments, or you could E-mail RandyT if you really want the instructions.
-
Well it was not instructions I got. Just a sheet of paper with the mappings on it.
-
I actually did get some sort of instructions and then a sort of "map" to show what each screwhole on the KeyWiz does. It's a pretty nifty little device. Except for that whole not working suddenly thing. But Randy has been great talking me thru that...good times.
Have fun with it. Play some Captain America and the Avengers. Blow stuff up with Iron Man. Teach them respect.
-
I just got mine recently and it took a bit of deciphering to figure it all out... Keywiz didn't approach the walk-through for the novice. And to top it off, my Keywiz Uploader floppy doesn't work properly. Sucko!
But I did test the board out and it works just perfect.

Note for randy:
Is the software for the keywiz downloadable? I was just wondering since i don't have a floppy in my pc. Its totally USB drive driven. lol.
Let me know, thanks.

AFAIK, no, it is not. But E-mail and/or PM RandyT and I'm sure he will find a way to provide it to you.
-
I'll email it all to you if you give me your address.

Yes, email me. I'll send you a copy.
Or Flampoo can, as I just e-mailed it to him as well :)
