Title: Jurassic Park 1994 Cabinet
Post by: vholfx on March 26, 2020, 09:56:40 am
Hello,

Recently a fully working "Jurassic Park 1994" arcade cabinet was put up for sale. I have the room (and interest) to store such a beast, but I don't know what I am getting myself to in terms of maintenance complexity and such. I fix my own cabs, but this has a pneumatic motor and all sort of moving parts, but most importantly, ZERO info (that I can find) online.

I reach out to you guys to help me get any kind of info regarding this cabs, your experiences with it if you have/had it, etc.

I understand this are very old machines prone to all sorts of problems, but I'm very fond of the game and I'd love to "rescue it" from being gutted, as I'm sure it will probably be, since parts sell for more than the whole unit.

Here are pictures of said machine.

I see Sega "spared no expense" building these.

Just curious did you try to contact Sega directly ? I'd imagine Sega has the schematics / manuals that you can get from them.....

It didn't ocurr to me to contact Sega directly, I guess I could do that also.

Is there a chance they would reply?

I’ve worked on one before. Had to reassemble the joystick for a local barcade I used to support. They’re cool but take a beating on location.

What about the moving parts? pneumatic and such, is maintenance something that can be done with reasonable effort now days?

I didn’t do any work on those systems, but as far as I know they were working for the barcade. I would look for the manual online first if you are worried about that aspect.
