Title: Stranded or solid wire.....
Post by: EEmu on June 11, 2002, 12:47:15 pm
.....for wiring buttons and joysticks?  Can solid wire be crimped onto quick disconnects?

Thanks for any help.

Go with stranded wire for crimped connections, solid will break very easily and does not hold a crimped connection very well, on the other hand if its going from a terminal block solid will work fine.  Solid is also a bit easier to solder on to D-sub connectors.

Personally, I used telephone wire. Not a cord but the internal wire. (Solid copper) I found it VERY easy to use especially with the terminal connectors. But I also used crimp connections on the other end. I haven't hand any problem with them breaking or slipping out. Good luck.
