Title: GroovyMAME with Pelco PMCL532F & XFX Radeon HD 6450 1GB
Post by: Max... on February 08, 2020, 04:46:32 pm
Hi,

I have been recently looking into getting MAME (properly) set up and also trying to get my head around all the information relating to getting 15/25/31 kHz working on a monitor. I don't have a lot of room, so I decided to look and see if I could get an LCD one that was capable of displaying the needed CGA/EGA/VGA modes. I had a look and found this list of LCD Monitors which are meant to be capable of 15/25 kHz: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HfY6nwoDXw9qPSlJycNuzhJRumG9Adbb2GCb9MV6R3o/edit#gid=0 (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HfY6nwoDXw9qPSlJycNuzhJRumG9Adbb2GCb9MV6R3o/edit#gid=0)

After reading that list, it got me thinking, and I decided that it would be beneficial to get the largest monitor that was capable of displaying the needed modes. So I had a look, and ended up getting the oppertunity in getting a hold of a Pelco PMCL532F. As I didn't want to lose my chance of getting a large LCD monitor which was able to display the correct resolutions, I went for it. Since getting that, my friend gave me his old XFX Radeon HD 6450 1GB.

I have read quite a few posts, but the majority have been about setting up CRT monitors and not really LCD ones. I now feel that I'm at the point where I would like to try these together with GroovyMAME. However, I'm not sure how to proceed, as I'm not sure what output to what input I need to use as it will be to an LCD and not a CRT. I have also never put two graphics cards in one computer, and I'm still trying to fully understand all I need to know about getting everything set up.

Any help at all would be grately appreciated!!! Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to making all of this possible, especially Calamity. Many thanks for all your hard work, I scincerely mean that!!

Imo, if you're going with an lcd might as well just get one that supports gsync/freesync and not have to deal with custom refresh rates.

Thanks for your reply Foxhole, I appreciate it!

However, I'm just wanting to get this set up and see how it goes.

I would really appreciate it for some guidance in how to get my setup up and running to the best it can be. I look forward to any help I can get.

Many thanks!  :)
