I think driving games are going to be a problem for me now.
I have recently contracted a flesh eating virus and have lost my right leg. I am still in the hospital dealing with dialysis and other complications. I called the ambulance Dec 16th with shortness of breath. Then went through a 9 day nightmare of occasionaly gaining consciousness to find myself restrained with a tube in each end of me, drugged up enough to not understand what was happening. I finally woke up to find myself missing a leg, sporting a bed sore that would require surgery and months to heal and for some reason my weak left ear had gone completely deaf.
I then transferred to another hospital. I died while checking in but they were able to revive me. It is now a month later. I am still in the hospital. I am on dialysis. I am still fighting the bed sore. My body is weak but I can sit up for about 20 minutes before the pain from the sore forces me back to bed.
My family would appreciate any help. I would also love ideas that would let me keep playing my Out Run, Turbo and cockpit Pole Position machines.

Good to hear you're up and around! Sorry to hear about everything you've gone through, tell your wife and daughter that some strange dude from the internet says he hopes they're doing okay as well as yourself too. I dunno how much would be involved in moving the pedals to the left side, but my even better idea is that it becomes a daughter-helps-dad thing and you recruit her to work the gas pedal for you. The wife and I are praying for you guys.

Damn dude - glad to see you are moving around. I can't even imagine. Here's to a speedy recovery! You might not need to change a thing with your driving cabs - prosthetic legs have come a long way in the last decade.

That does suck. The same thing happened to a lady that lives on our street. She has the most incredible carbon fiber prosthetic leg. I used to see her jogging up and down the street and I had no idea she had a prosthetic until I saw her wearing shorts in summer. It literally moves and works like a real leg. I was very impressed.
Once you get your prosthetic, hopefully you'll be able to go back to doing all the things you enjoyed before.
Racing games should be no issue. You only need one leg to drive and, if necessary, you can wire pedals to the buttons on the race wheel. My son uses the paddles on my Logitech wheel as he can't reach the pedals yet.
Feel better

I am sorry to hear this. It's a ---smurfy--- deal you got there.

I thought I might check back in.
4 years later I have managed to recover, survive and rebrand myself as a youtuber doing ebay related content.

Unfortunately my inability to move games around myself anymore or carry monitors sucked all the fun out of the arcade hobby, so I sold off the entire collection except for the Mame cabinet.

I am so glad you are alive.
