Title: Front End - Checkered Flag video help
Post by: MotownC on December 30, 2019, 02:45:33 pm
I am putting the finishing touches on a racing cab and am using Howard's FE Checkered Flag. Everything works great except for the videos. I can hear the sound of the clip but the video area is black. This happens with both .avi and .mp4 files (with blend mode set to 100 per readme.txt). I believe I am up to date with all runtimes and codecs. Also, I downloaded most of the clips from the progetto-snaps website.

Also, appreciate the wealth of info received on this site. Been a lurker for awhile and really enjoy all the insight.

I'm not sure if progretto snaps are compatible … I roll my own and honestly I haven't setup videos for every game.  Mp4 files never seem to work with me.  Avi's with a mpeg or mpeg 2 compression codec work best.  Here is a sample file that'll work:

You can still use progretto's vids, you'll just have to download one of the many freeware video converters and do a batch conversion on them once you determine which codec works best for you.

Thank you - yes, the sample vid worked well! I will play around with conversion or otherwise make my own.

Quick update and a request for one last bit of help...

Using 'Any Video Converter' (free version), I was able to convert the .mp4 files, from YouTube or progetto-snap, using the MPEG1 codec and they work great. The one thing that I needed to do to make that work was to change the file extension from '.mpg' to '.mpeg'.

The issue I have is that when I select a game that has a video preview, the sound from the clip continues in the background while the game is being played. Is there a way to fix this?
