One of my favorites back in the day. I could make a quarter last longer than most other games I played. :)

Awesome, another game I love.
Very hard in the later levels.
No, the popularity of the first didn't carry over,
but i loved the sci fi theme in it.

Just to get my feet wet. I’m not too familiar with this version, I mainly play the first Time Pilot, but there’s some cool stuff in this game. I like the lock-on Missile mechanic, and the subsequent enemies with different behaviours.
The game’s a bit noisy though. Like so many audio clips fighting with each other. After only 20 mins of play I do feel my ears ringing slightly, and my volume is at a moderate level!

150,300. It sure takes its time to find the 5k bonus items. Has anyone figured out how to trigger the white plane (aka extra life)?

I managed to get the plane last night, not sure exactly what I did other than "go right" by the water area. The squadron of time pilot ships showed up just prior.
-
Love this game, it's one of my favourites, but I cannot match the scores here!
More practice needed!

You go east until you get to the river, then you go south until you reach some kind of lake. Then you fly around in that area until the white plane appears (or the boss, which happens way more frequently). I think something triggers the white plane, but I haven't found out what you have to do or which spot you have to pass.

Post your score anyway, it makes the thread more lively. Eventually, this competition will die because nobody bothers to post.

247,200. Man, that game literally got my heart pounding.

Doesn't stop me, and I'm consistently last place. I thought we were all here to discuss video games. Post anyway.

We all know it's all about competing for 3rd place. ;)

Strategies :
In case you didn't play time pilot, that game, you can extend your gameplay on every level.
Basically, don't shoot anything, except for the bonus formations, and collect parachutes,
as they go up in value, 1000,2000,3000,4000, and maxing out at 5000. Then you get
5000 for each after.
This way you can prolong the levels and point press.
===============================
All the information you need : http://www.dragonshadow.com/timepilot84/index.html
For time pilot 84, you can do a similar thing.
Do not shoot anything, except for the bonus formation:
You get 1000 for the first, 2000, and then max at 3000, and 3000 for every one afterwards.
*NEED TO KILL ALL 5 for it count (a point indicator will show up)
You should be able to get to at least 70000 points on the first level.
---
2nd level, do the same, but try to go vertically to avoid the gray enemies.
You should have at least 100 000 by the end of the level.
---
3rd and onwards, you can probably do it one more time, and have about 120 000 or more
After that, i just go for the quick kills.
Of course, getting the bonus formations, extra men, and others will help add to it.
I will post a video when i get a chance.

So far, on 2 MAME cabinets with hundreds of games, I have not located this one. Must not be too popular. :lol
-
To summon the white plane, you have to clear the area of silver enemies first, then fly up or down over the lake.
edit: According to the website negative1 posted, this can only be done in stage 2 & 8.
268,500.

good score.
i have a video from a MARP game of 680k, and there are other levels with the Free extra man plane on it.
I forgot which ones.
I think the plane just shows up, you don't have to kill silver things for it to come out.

You are right. I think it didn't show up for me a couple of times without killing the silver enemies, but I might have tried in the wrong stage at those times. Tested it in stage 2, it showed up, but since I tend to kill the silver ones anyway...

Love the original Time Pilot. Don't remember this one at all. Anyway, here's my best so far: 144,200

After one game:
Let me ask you guys how do you feel about 2nd place winner? I know there used to be a rule to post "proof" with current score not just top 10. But much have changed since then, including "friendly" competition and not enough people participating. Is that still enforced or we don't care much?

Okay, finally figured out how to kill the level boss.

One of my favorites.
I remember going to an arcade that had all sorts of NEW GAME! Time Pilot '84 promotional posters, flyers, etc. all over touting the new arrival.
And it was pretty awesome.
After 1-2 warmups, I played my first game straight (pound on fire buttons non-stop, shoot everything that moves, as fast I possibly can): 197,800 on stage 9
I played my 2nd game w/ strategy (difficult for me to do), shooting only the lock-on ships w/ my missiles, & shooting formations & bonus 5k targets that appear.
This netted me 74,400 at the end of stage 1(!), but I couldn't maintain this lifestyle & pooped out early into stage 2 at 96,900.
Thanks,
-Jason

I think it's more convenient to post a pic of the game's high score table if you do an actual photo, because some games have a time limit for entering your name, so entering your name and taking a photo might be tricky. I'm playing on my computer, I just need to press F12 to get a screenshot, so for me it doesn't matter. As for being a screenshot of the high score table not being proof enough: I trust you people.

very tough competition on this.
i tried going back to it, but couldn't improve my score.
this was actually my best score too. so i know i can get better at it.
in the meantime, a game i didn't like at first, but am now having a lot of fun
with is : Mappy
looks decieving, and is tough at first, but there's a lot of nuance and elements to it.
Its got maze elements definitely in it, but also reminds me a little of Sega's Flicky,
which i also like (but am not good at either).
[Thanks for the graphs, and charts also, very well done]

So, start the Mappy thread already! Time's a wastin'! Chop chop! We haven't got all year!
-
This is taking too long. Next compo game: Mappy. (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,161698.0.html)
-
Yeah, yeah, i know 'shill', arcade 1up, etc.
I don't care.
SUPPOSEDLY, at CES 2020, arcade 1up will be releasing
a new cabinet, with Frogger, and Time Pilot on it.
In that case, it might also have Time Pilot 84 on it. Not sure yet.
Check over in the other forum for news.
*UPDATE : yes, it is time pilot 84

Really??
Pretty ---smurfy--- move that you have time to update us on promoting products, rather than following the competition rules and starting up a thread for the next comp. yamatetsu had to do it for you.

too busy over new years, dealing with my parents broken water heater,

i haven't even had time to submit a game yet. good turnout though.
