I have one of this type of trackball :

And was wondering if anyone knows what direction it should be mounted in ( ie. do the wires coming out face Up, Down, Left or Right ) - I guess I could hook it all up and find out but was thinking someone here might already know !

Not sure about the pinout for that trackball, but here's the pinout for a 60-in-1 trackball. (Hat tip to Drnick)
As long as you get the 5v and ground right, mixing up the other wires won't damage the board or trackball circuits.

Thanks for that but have it already - mainly was just wanting to mount it in the CP and since it is already in a harness did want to have to remove and turn it after installing ( since it only has 2 mounting holes instead of 4 turning it 90 degrees would mean a couple extra holes in the MDF ) - Your post did give me another option for checking it though as I can look at the wiring colors and see which is going to the X and Y axis. Just surprised they don't mark it with the default direction to mount it - but guess they figure you can always rearrange the wiring harness or rotate the thing if it winds up being wrong. :dunno

In case anyone else wants to know - I went ahead and wired things up today to test and the trackball pictured is wired so that the up direction is where the wires come out of the base - So when mounting in the cab the wiring connector should go toward the screen.
