Title: Resolution problems when starting from Vertical Resolution.
Post by: Andypc on October 26, 2019, 08:40:50 am
I have set-up my system with Groovymame 0.213 and the "CRT Emudriver & CRT Tools 2.0 beta 15 (Adrenalin 18.5.1 for GCN* cards) for Windows 7/8 64-bits" I have set up Super Resolutions all is working fine when I start a game direct from Mame. This is for a Vertical Set-up and my Frontend needs the resolution set to a vertical resolution 480x640 to work. When I start a game from the Frontend the resolution is completely wrong and the picture is squashed in the middle of the screen. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem. Solved it by setting crt tool to horizontal, created modes, then set mame to vertical. Always used the correct modes. I don't get why you would even create special vertical modes. Vertical games used normal modes and just put the monitor horizontal.

I would try endprodukt's solution first, and then if that doesn't work, or work fully, try adjusting the aspect ratio in mame.ini to 4:3 or 3:4 and see what happens. If needed, in the ini folder you can create vertical.ini or game.ini files  that contain ONLY that aspect X:Y line.
