Hi all.
Glad to see the site is still here and active. It has been quite a while.
I am starting a Cocktail Table project and am playing with the PC / Software side of things before messing with anything else.
Plan is to use PC for MAME and run the LCD monitor vertically for games.
Items on my list to figure out are:
1) Figure out how to activate screen flipping for roms that support screen flipping. (DONE)
2) Figure out how to run 'mirrored' screens on each end of the monitor for horizontal games.
Not sure what this is called.. "Head to head"? Half of the LCD shows one screen, and the other half of the screen mirrors for the other player.
As to allow games like final fight, sf2, etc.. to be played at the same time.
(I figured this out in NEWER VERSIONS OF MAME, but can I do this in OLD versions? 0.94?)
If so... how?
3) Find a front end that is EASY to configure and runs vertically. Can anyone recommend anything?
I have been out of the frontend scene for a good 10 years. lol. (Still running 3D ARCADE on my existing Mame Cab)

Attractmode comes to mind

What kind of monitor are you running? 3:4? 9:16? 10:16?
Not sure about the older versions of MAME, but why use that anyway?
I use RetroFE with recent MAME on my 10:16 cocktail setup.

There is a project called HyperTate a video on youtube here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbL9yvfBxAk
It is for vertical games only, so might give you a start.
I did give it a try on a 32 inch touch screen monitor that I have as vertical for a jukebox. You change the rotation on the graphics settings.
HyperTate is created around HyperSpin.
Hope this helps
