Title: framing tv

I really liked bad-boo’s stand up/vewlix style cabinet so I am trying to build essentially the same thing.  This is my first build and I have attached a shot of how far I have gotten.  I am a little confused how to frame in the TV.  I know I can cut the MDF but is there something cleaner you guys are using?  If you just cut the mdf do you set it back for plexi to cover it?

Or is there a good tutorial or post on this - not finding one but I may not be searching effectively.

Cut hole in front panel for tv to go behind put plexi in front of wood and call it done :)  Or at least looking at your current design that is what I would do.

You could angle the inner edge (router).

Are you talking about the bezel?

If so, you can usually just buy one if your monitor is a typical arcade monitor size.

There is also a bunch of ebay sellers offering arcade bezel artwork which should do a nice job of making a diy bezel look more professional.

Or are you asking about mounting the monitor?

They're nothing special in this case. You saw the cab design, yeah?

Thanks for the ideas.  I like the bezel look in some cabinets but here I really love the cabinet look that Mr. Peabody shows.  You think that is just simple the MDF (or whatever he is using) cut to frame the TV/monitor??  Really so easy, but I would not have thought of it.

Actually building a cab makes you think through so many little details, huh?
