I inherited a juke box from my grandfather - and I just got it moved to my place. I'm not sure of the last time it was used but I remember it working well 20 years ago when I was a kid. I plugged it in, turned it on. It had a record on it I believe. The jukebox plays the same 3-second segment of the record. The needle won't progress through the song, and I'm also not sure how to get it to abort the record and get it to put it back. Any idea?

usually this is just becasue the record has been scratched and the needle doesn't track beyond the damaged portion of the record.
you can cancel the record by picking up the tone arm and moving it towards the center of the disk until it think its finished. you'll want to let go of the tone arm near the center before the area called the "runout" (the very coarse grove in the center of the record). this grove will pull the arm into the center and the mechanism should reset and put the disk away.

Thank you for your reply lilshawn.
Indeed your trick about skipping the track works.
However, I have tried 10 records and they're all the same. They will play probably the first 30 seconds then start looping a segment. I can move the needle back to the start to repeat that first 30 seconds but I can't move it further into the song to get it past that point.
Your help so far is very much appreciated.

I should also add that new track doesn't start at the beginner of the song. It starts a little bit into it, every time.

Here's a 2-minute video I made showing what is going on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px3NffjAetI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px3NffjAetI)
