Title: Rowe AMI R80S PROBLEMS
Post by: lsavory on September 07, 2019, 10:17:53 pm
i have a rowe ami r80s. have had to work on it since i got it.

its new issue is it quits turning the record carousel. When this happens the 28v lamp goes out on the power supply I do have the manual and after unplugging everything it says to unplug I've determined that I do not get my 28v lamp back until I've unplugged the memory unit, and the audio mute o. the amp. any one got any clue what im looking at? it works when it wants to then just quits.

Hello Isavory,

The first thing you need to do is unplug the loom from the power supply and test the four power rails on it.
make up a couple of test lamps using 12 volt fruit machine lamps. use a single 12 volt lamp to test the -7 volts DC whilst messuring the voltage.
Wire two 12 volt lamps in series to test the 28 volts DC, 28 volts AC and -27 volts DC again measuring the voltage again. The lamp put a slight load on the power supply and this will show up any faults on the PCB in the power supply.

If the power supply tests out OK then start to inspect the boards.

If you can not sort out the boards you could always send them to me for testing/repair.
