If you plan on building a cabinet with a TV in it that runs on DOS, I would recommend against a Radeon 7000. I spent the last couple of days trying to get my Radeon 7000 TV-out to work with AdvanceMame/Menu under DOS to no avail. Finally I did some googling, and found that there are a few other people who have encountered the same issue. You won't find any p/v/hclock settings that will work right. So, now my girlfriend has a new Radeon 7000, and I'm looking for a card that works.

That's because you are using TV-Out when you could do like this:

That'd be fine if I had a TV that supports Scart connections, but I'm in the US where they're not exactly common. Anyway, I found a card that works a long time ago.

Oh yeah, I forgot SCART TVs aren't common in the US. Maybe i should stop pimping that site so much then. I guess i'm just excited that it actually worked!

Damn. I hate when people contradict (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?action=display;board=4;threadid=16450;start=0#msg132208) eachother. A guy in this other thread said that ATI cards should have no problems in DOS.
-
Curious...there shouldn't be a problem. Unless ATI is starting to make cards that differ from the norm. Wish I could get a poke at one of those.

It's not a contradiction at all. ATI makes many cards that work well with DOS. All of them except the Radeon 7000, actually. Even then, the Radeon 7000 works fine in DOS except for TV-out. Check out the Google Groups and you'll see a lot of discussions about the problem.

In that case, thanks for the warning. I'm glad to know that the problem exists in only one card, and I'm sorry that you had to find out the hard way.
