Heh, I just jailbreaked my phone and have this game on my mame emu. Will submit score from there, since my computer is unreliable at the moment. Count me in!
-
One of the best games evah!
-
Love this game. Going to have to give it a go this week and see if I can put up a respectable score.
-
Great choice. This is one of those games I found by accident a couple of years ago and absolutely love.
-
Hope it's allowed!
-
403,200 Round 10. Didn't have a chance to click a pic off before the High Score screen went away.
-
This one is on the PC. Controlled are a bit easier because my bartop button layout is not ideal for this game.
660,900 Round 14
-
A game for which I needed no roms. I don't recall seeing this game back in the day, but have liked it since knowing of it this time round.
(@yam: I haven't cared for Space Harrier, and since I needed to get roms, I didn't bother with the last.)
I thought I had a good game. One was good enough, though.
@LTC: by PC do you mean a port? Is it different?
-
No, just MAME on my PC, using the keyboard for controls. The first score I put up was on my bartop and the buttons don't quite lay in the correct pattern for this game so it was a little more of a challenge.
-
Aarrrgh! Heads up!
This is one of those games where, if you don't get a high score & get to put your initials in, then your last score is instantly wiped out when you see the Game Over screen. The game won't show the last score in the attract mode.
This is a liability if, hypothetically, you have a ton of stellar high scores that you'll probably never achieve again, & you play the game for a competition & get only 310,000 or so...but you aren't sure exactly what the final score was b/c you didn't get a photo & that score never popped back up despite watching the attract mode for a looooong time.
Hypothetically...

There we go.
Played a 2nd time.
Got onto the high score table. Boy, I used to be hella good at this!
356,050
The EXTRA was an...well, an extra bonus. Extra guy, 20k points, finish the level.
Blue-dressed lady looks miffed for me shooting her in the face. Sheesh--she bounced right back...what's the big whoop? Well, she just jumped out of nowhere & looking all threatening & stuff.
Y'all playing on starting level 1, 3, or 6?
I'm using 1.
Lots of excitement & tips & chatter from the last go-round in........2009!??!?!!?

I have a new score. I was doing pretty well besides a few fatal goofs. Ran out of time twice in a row on 5. Quickly ran out on 6. On 4 I got an Extra - just as I got 5000 for the shot - or was that the same for you, jason?
-
I love this game, but haven't had time to play any form of games lately.

Go for it mimic. I've had so little time to game lately, it would almost be unfair for me to choose one.

Me? I'm nowhere near 3rd place, but I appreciate the gesture.
I'm just happy I'm not in the last place! Been playing too much No Man's Sky in VR.
EDIT: I can't believe it's been a DECADE as Jason pointed out since last time this game was around! Holy crap time flies!
EDIT2: Oh I see the confusion now. It's from the previous competition where I questioned choice of game going to 3rd place winner rather than THE winner, I still think it's a mistake because people might be willing to throw the 2nd place for 3rd just to choose the game. Choice of game used to be nice reward and the winner could always withdraw itself if they think they will win (after all it's friendly competition, right?), that was practiced for a little bit in the beginning.
Regardless, I think you still should pick the game if your game was all you could get in the time that YOU had, which is the current rule anyways.
-
Oh I didn't notice that. I suppose the honor goes to Mr. Peabody, then?

Yep, that's it.
As for the winner picking the next game, take a look at this, especially the last column.

18 games played, 15 games won by two people. I don't want to pick a game that I like only to withdraw from the competition because I probably will win it. So I would let someone else choose the game, maybe the runner-up. Then I might win the game again, let the runner-up choose the next one ... That's basically what we're doing now, without losing time by going back and forth about who will pick the next game.
Choice of game used to be nice reward
If you win one game, yes. If you win ten, no.
edit: I sent a pm to Mr. Peabody, let's see if he wants to do the next game.
-
If he doesn't, yama, I'll just step up and stop whining. Haha

If you win one game, yes. If you win ten, no.
Promise last one time.
As I said if someone knows they will win because they practiced prior, then make a stipulation you're not participating, but play along. If you pick game you don't know and win legitimately because you have time, I think you deserve it to pick as a reward even if it's 10 times.
That's it. I just think (hunch really) people threw 2nd place because they wanted to pick game.

That may have been the case when you're up against 30 some-odd people, but have you seen this series? There's 7 or 8 of us, and that's UP from last year!
I've never thrown anything, and have had plenty of opportunities to pick. Too many, in fact! Haha
Also there's no trophy on the line, so what's the motivation?

I started participating in the compo in 2015. Since then, I have won 55 games. I have never played any of these games before. If you have to do it very often, picking a new game is not a reward.
-
Dude you are putting way too much value on picking the freakin' game. Nobody is taking a dive for the esteemed honor of picking the next game.

Now that you mentioned it, that does sound ridiculous.
I liked the old rule better, but I see the point Yamatetsu's making winning 55 games which he never played before.
Ok, dropping FOREVER!
Ready to see what's next!

Yes. I was about to say something.....
@Mike A, and mimic: we are paranoid, sure, but are we paranoid enough?/
