that thing looks pretty cool, you could like velcro it to the side of your cab and take it off when you need a mouse. if i had 30$ to blow i would buy it, but i gotta order my joys/buttons soon

I've got a panel that a touchpad would be REALLY handy on.  Any idea what those things cost?  I couldn't see prices on their website, just a link to contact the sales dept.  I get the feeling that you have to order large quantities at a time...

Ugh just bought one of these the one with the cord. And wow are they awful your thumb gets sore in 5min. The rollers are thin stiff wires which look like they have shrink tubing for the friction points. But good news the mouse is USB and being that I am at work I had the mouse apart. And found the incoder wheels have wide spacing and I have mapped out the contact points for a trackball hack. Here's a pic of my next victim.

Edgedamage,  do you think you might be able to put a little tutorial together when you hack that?  I've been thinking of buying one, but wasn't sure how good they would be.  Thanks.

I've got one sitting in the cupboard, along with the atari version (the big black mother).  I never tried hacking it (should be a breeze) just because it never did roll very well. As I recall...the bearings were connected to the shafts or something so that you couldn't replace them, of course that was 5 years ago, and I know a lot more now, so maybe it was just inexperience at the time...But mounting would be a pain, no?

I just want to mod it. If something can't be modded it's CRAP!

planetjay has some pics of a hack he did.

It's at his site planetjay.com (http://www.planetjay.com/) (scroll down or visit the gallery)

My understanding is that his rolls really well and was quite hackable.

YMMV

It's actually the arcade version... just in a different housing with an optical to digital converter plugged into the optics..... all you need is a mouse hack and plug it in.
