ALL NEW BYOAC High Score Competition! Games played (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,156317.0.html) so far:
----------------------
Game Name : Burnin' Rubber
ROM Name = brubber
----------------------
Settings: Default (3 lives, bonus every 30,000)
Controls: 8-way, 1 button (Jump)
Join "Jumpin' John" as he goes cruisin' up the road bumping, jumping, and smashing cars. Aside from the cars, you must avoid the sides of the road, breaks in the road which are usually over water, and rocks in the road which can sometimes be dumped by certain vehicles. Each level is based on a season Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter except the first level which seems to have no name. After Winter, it cycles back to Spring again with each level becoming successively harder. When you finish a level, you will pull up to a gas pump that has an icon showing the next level. A flowering tree shows Spring is coming up, a life preserver indicates Summer, a tree with no leaves says Fall is next, and a snowman means Winter is on the way. According to the game, there are 32 unique levels but they do not roll over back to the first level after level 32.
The joystick controls the movement and speed of the car. By increasing speed, you not only go faster, but you get the ability to jump after your speed passes 100. The faster you go, the better control the car seems to have. Your car's speed tops out at 220. The big breaks in the road are signaled by a warning exclamation point sign that flashes at the top center of the screen and beeps. Be prepared to jump when you see this. Bumping the cars around you will bounce you in the opposite direction of the bump and can also speed or slow you down based on that direction. The faster your car goes, the less control you seem to lose.
Last day: Sunday, August 12th 2019, midnight Pacific Time

This game is hard as balls. I did play this once in a while at the corner arcade, but it didn't exactly provide a good return on the 25 cents. The Intellivision port is pretty good, and would have been cool to have back then.
After a couple of games I had a pretty good one, and got to the 5th or 6th board. 70,904

Hilarious. I was going to pick this game, then got side-tracked by yam's mention of trackball games......but 42 is the answer, eh?

53,144. Holding the 360 pad with just the left hand and jumping with the analog trigger ain't easy.

64,284. I remember having fun playing this on the C64 BITD. Those times are gone.

107,568. Pattern 4 has some mean jumps.

my score after playing for the first time EVER. I've seen this game pretty much in every arcade but never tried it, I guess its time!

Have you guys actually ever seen a Burnin' Rubber, vs. a Bump 'n Jump? I saw many a Bump 'n Jump but never a Burnin' Rubber. Is BR the original Japanese version?
Wonderful selection!

A few tips.
- Level start: Accelerate until that pesky red-white-blue car appears. Hit the brakes until he buggers off. Accelerate immediately to prevent him from starting at the bottom of
the screen.
- Finish the levels without destroying any cars. Smash 0 cars, get a 50k bonus. Get a new life every 30k. Sometimes it pays off to rather die than to destroy a car.

Screw it! I can't even get past the first round! :(

That's just a matter of memorizing the track. When jumping over water, always head to the left, most of the time there's a narrow lane which you can land on. Make sure that you are always fast enough to be able to jump out of trouble.
153,048. Finally made the first 3 patterns flawlessly. Might have gotten the 4th one too, if I weren't too dumb to figure out the jump before the finish line.

Playing the avoid game to get the 50k bonus is almost more difficult than trying to smash as many cars as you can. Made it to 6th level on this run.
-
It certainly helps keeping the frustration level high. I hate those morons who off themselves and give me the credit for it. And the idiots who drive on the narrow lane on the left and stay exactly where I'm going to land.
169,932. Made it to pattern 5.

Took only a couple tries to get through pattern 1 with no crashes.
Was jumping onto the last skinny bridge of pattern 2 when a booger snuck up right under me & got crunched...about 1.3 seconds from finishing pattern 2.

I've finished level 1... but only gotten so far in to level 2.... I'm up to 2x,xxx...
-
Made it to pattern 8. Did pattern 1, 2 & 4 flawlessly. After finishing pattern 5 flawlessly, I was celebrating, then I got the message 'You have smashed 1 cars'.

I have not cared for this game, especially the ghetto graphics and animation. But I went and got the roms, and put them on an SD.....only to be refused by XP on the game machine saying the files were corrupt. Something weird with that SD, I think. This has happened the majority of times I've tried in the last several months, going from 7 machine to XP machine. So I may not get up and.....bumping.

Using a variant on the ever-popular Neighbor algorithm to expedite game selection, the next game is Burning Force, aka NAMCO wants to play Space Harrier, too!
