I got an NES front loader that was having an issue with the 72 pin connector. I fixed it and all seemed well after testing. A week later and it is no longer powering on. I just recapped everything in the RF/power box using a cap kit. The continued testing is looking good but still no led or signal. Might it be the 17805? How does one test it?

Fixed,
It was the linear power regulator. I replaced it with one form console5.com.

It’s always the power supply

Nice fix.
How did you determine that? Did you pull and test it?

Kind of, I opened up the case, pulled out the board, got it all hooked up out side the case and pocked around with my multi meter. I should have pulled and tested, safer for the board that way. As PBJ said it’s usually the power supply and I had already recapped said supply.
Pick of the dead one below. I had some heat sink past on hand so cheep and simple repair.

Just out of curiosity how much shipping did they charge for that 60 cent part?

From console5, probably a lot.

Subtotal $0.59 USD
Shipping and handling $2.69 USD
Total $3.28 USD
Payment $3.28 USD
I could have got a pack of them on amazon for less per unit but I only needed one and $3.29 shipped It was close enough. Should have checked mouser and element 14.
