I recently purchased a happs analog controller used off of ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3270960668&category=13718&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWN%3AIT&rd=1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3270960668&category=13718&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWN%3AIT&rd=1)
I got it yesterday, but I didnt get home until around midnight and didnt look at it for long before hitting the sack. I think it's the same thing as this:

Well, my question is, does anyone have any experience wiring this thing to work in a mame cab? If so, do you have any advice, links, etc?
Anyways, thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Sorry dude, no way to interface that to a PC directly. But you can sell it to me at the price you paid if you want to get rid of it. ;D
Just joking, wow what a good deal. Seriously though, I think the easiest way to use it would be to hack to an analog PC joystick/flightstick.

I have one of those too - got it from ebay also :)
I haven't even begun to try and interface it yet. At first I would just say replace the pots with 100k ones and wire up to the gameport...but this particular stick has a pot amp board, which *may* be possible to connect to a gameport without changing the pots. I don't know much about how the pot amp board works to be honest so I'll have to do a bit of research / multimetering when I come to make my analog panel.
Of course the other way to do it is hack it to a Dual Strike ala 1UP :)
If you figure out how to do it please post back - I'd love to hear how...I'll do the same if I figure it out, but am a bit busy on other things atm...

David is about to sell a interface that allows you to directly use analog controllers. It has 5 axis (x, y, z, rotx, roty) and 14 buttons. Great little board. Screw terminals and everything.
outputs to USB.
Might be worth waiting for.

Good point, I'd forgot about that ::)
Any idea when it will be available? I have 2 pedals and an analog stick to interface!

Sorry, I'm a noob to the scene here, so 2 more noobtastic questions:
1)Minwah, is there a link to the mod you describe, of hooking up 2 100k pots and wiring to a gamepad?
2)Who is David (this question I imagine requires me coating my body in flame retardant gel, because once you ask who someone is who is referred to on a first name basis, you're begging for "gtfo you pos noob, there's a website for people like you, www.slikstik.com, cough up 1500 bucks and pretend you're cool like us"), and how would I get a hold of him for one of these analog interfaces you're speaking of?
Thanks, if you need to smack me in person, I'm available for weekly beatdowns in Decatur, GA.

1) Take a look here: http://www.gunpowder.freeserve.co.uk/wheels/wiring.htm - of course it is meant for a wheel + pedals, but forget about the brake pot (& switches) in the single-axis system and it is exactly the same principle as an analog stick.
2) I can't remember exactly either! ::) He made a post here a while back, but haven't heard much news since...I think we'll just have to wait until he's ready, I'm sure he'll post when that time comes :)
BTW don't be so worried about being flamed, we're pretty cool here ;D

Go to a thrift store and find yourself an old analog PC joystick. If it has a gameport connection and little adjustment things to the right and above the stick then you are golden.
Open it up, inside you should find NOTHING! Well nothing but two pots and a couple of wires. Look at that, look at your analog happ stick, you shouldn't need any more instructions.

Thanks PO.

Do you mean use the pots from the PC stick? Or just use the wiring? Do you happen to know anything about the pot amp circuit board on the arcade stick?

I meant use the POTS from the PC stick.
