Title: Hantarex Polo 25 - stopped working - no neck glow - faint "ticking"
Post by: krick on June 16, 2019, 10:43:44 pm
My trusty old Hantarex Polo 25 quit working today.

I left it on for a few hours today and when I went to check on it, the screen was black.

There's no neck glow at all and I can hear a faint ticking sound.

Any ideas on what the problem might be based on the symptoms?

I replaced the flyback in 2009 (because it was sparking) and it's been solid ever since.

I'll pull it out of the cabinet one night this week and do more detective work but I was hoping someone might have seen this before.

Hi

I do not know if you have seen my repair posts :)
I have learned a lot from the users on this forum, but my repairs is still giving me a fight.

Try to follow the chart here.

desolder pin 3 of flyback  and then one side of 40w lamp to pad of pin 3 for proving power supply voltages- all connected to crt
you test +145 b+, 25v vertical deflection, 15v which means you can then check +12- all tests ok then power supply is fine

Interesting.  My monitor is making the "clicking" noise so, following the flowchart, maybe it's a problem with the horizontal output transistor T114 and/or the diodes listed.

Hoping to have time to dig into it later this week.
