Title: Eprom Stickers/PCB Label.
Post by: CHRIS-F on June 01, 2019, 09:48:44 am
Just a quick question,

what Stickers do you guys use to cover the little Eprom windows? some of the little windows are uncovered on my latest pcb, I noticed some pre numbered stickers on ebay are they thick enough to do the job? I don't have a printer, I suppose I could just write them onto blank stickers, but will any sticker do or do they need to be a certain thickness to keep the light out?

I also rubbed off the game's name with IPA cleaning the edge connector, tried to write it back on with a CD pen but failed miserably lol, I saw a cheap label printer in a local store, does anyone use one for putting the name on pcb's?, I know I'm just being fussy here as I could just put a blank sticker on and write on it, but just looking for a reason to buy one of those label printers (the wife told me I wasn't having one as I don't have a use for it) lol.

If you really want to protect the contents from UV (which I assume that you do) get some of that metal foil tape from a home store, made for HVAC applications.  Cut some squares and cover the windows with it.

A bother label maker is more than good enough, And it has different fonts....If your labels are gone however you probibaly got bigger problems than just stickers.

Thanks, I think I was lucky with my latest Game Board, a few of the EPROM's were uncovered but the game still works fine, its in the dark in the cabinet now, and I just put a piece tape over them for now, but that silver tape Randy mentioned sounds like a good solution, I could always print labels to go over them :-)

I have a whole box of old tractor feed peel and stick mailing labels 1 x 3 1/2 whenever I need to cover one, I just cut off some chunks and stick them on. they stick like baby crap to a wool blanket. being already 30 years old...if the glue is still good now, it has to be for a good while longer yet.
