The monitor in my revolution x decided to die. Anyone know how to invert the screen on a lcd?
-
Was it a CRT? It is most likely fixable. If not, you could buy a replacement CRT. That game takes a standard resolution monitor. They are still easy to get depending on where you live.
-
well, Rex X doesnt benefit from scanlines much, and the weightloss on that particular cab would be worth it. Since its just using glorified analog controls, there's no harm in using an LCD.
Flipping the screen in MAME is easy, but not so much if he's using real hardware.
-
That is true. I just figured it would be easier to keep the existing hardware.
-
I got the cabinet without the game boards. Its running mame, model 2 and 3. I plan on fixing the monitor. Butt in the meantime, would like to use a LCD.
-
lots of games have "flip monitor" in the operator menu. Doesnt help with the front end though.
-
Am I missing something? Can't you just flip the screen in the Windows display settings?
-
Yeah you can do portrait or landscape but you cant horizontally flip or invert.
-
You are right. I see what you mean.
-
Now this is purely crazy talk. VLC player can do what you want when playing videos. I have no idea if there is a way to run your emulators and front end through VLC.
-
I tried ultramon but you need a 2nd screen which is no big deal. But caused lag and model 2 and 3 did not work with it.
-
Maybe there will be less lag with Windows Mobility Center. I think you can mirror a second display with that. It can be enabled on a desktop. You just have to jump through some hoops. A native Windows solution might perform better. I don't have 2 displays so I can't really check it out.

If you're going try something crazy, go full on crazy. Disassemble the LCD screen and just flip the actual panel backwards.
-
or use 2 mirrors.
-
or could you just replace the mirror WITH the lcd?

And we have a winner!

then the reticles wont line up with the guns.

It's MAME...
-
Im aware. the fake depth provided by the mirror allows the recticle to match where the gun is pointing.

They're mouse point and click games... ::)

Maybe it's not on all machines/graphics cards/drivers/whatever, but I certainly can on mine. Windows 10, display orientation offers me Landscape, Portrait, and flipped version of both as well.
-
Get windows 10 to display everything backwards like a mirror. Post a screenshot.

The quoted line talked about flipping. Windows has modes that it describes "Landscape (flipped)" and "Portrait (flipped"). Differing terminology can lead to confusion.
