I have the opportunity to pick up a Surf Planet cab for $300. I'm wondering what the resale potential is for the pcb kit?
It's not a tremendously awesome game, but it isn't emulated yet either.
I'm trying to offset the cost of parts for my upcoming Mame cab, and I'm interested in ripping the 25" monitor & coin door out of the Surf Planet cab, but unless there's some value in the PCB, it might not be worth it, since I know people here have found some great deals.
I'm also wondering if the monitor is even up-to-par, as well. It's a Zenith G-3A6ADG25X, which (somewhere else on this board) is said to be a WG 25K7191 (K7000 series).
There was some image folding on the bottom of the monitor (ie: 1/2-inch bright squished section), but it might not have been completely adjusted. Would that be the issue, or could it be something else? How good is this monitor w/ Mame (arcadeVGA)?
thanks,
mrC

Looking through Usenet, "kits" (the controls, PCB, ETC) have been going for about 150$.
I think that this is a bit overpriced for the kit, as the game is a complete dog.
I would say keep shopping, or offer him 200$ firm.

I took your advice, since it sounded about right, and made the offer. We'll see what he says!
Thanks!
UPDATE: He didn't like the offer. ::) He keeps saying he can't even get a used monitor for $250, so I pointed him to 8liner for a refurb @ $160)...he'll probably just keep the cab for parts.

Only reason the kit sells for even that much is that it is still a newer game, and some operators still run them. I can think of at least one on location within a mile of my apartment.
