Title: Is my PC stong enough for MAME software??
Post by: AGGIEZ on February 10, 2004, 06:09:47 pm
I'm not all that computer savvy, so I need some help. I have an older HP Pavilion that I was thinking about getting rid of until I found out about MAME last night. These are the specs:

600 MHz Intel Celeron processor
64 MB SDRAM
Max 256 MB
10 GB hard drive

Not really sure what else you would need to know. Based on that information, is this PC strong enough to run MAME software on it?

It'll run MAME, but the performance you get depends on which games you run.

You might want to check this thread (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=14155).

Thanks Pete. So basically, it'll run the older games fine (PacMan, Galaga, Donkey Kong,...) but if I try to run anything newer it'll probably have performance issues? Is that correct? If so, that's cool. I'll just put the old school Atari games on it.

There a thread about a 5 dollar MB/CPU.  Get that instead.
