Title: Sportcraft air hockey issue
Post by: MaseMan on February 15, 2019, 06:41:25 pm
Have an older Sportcraft air hockey table that works fine, other than the electronic scoring. Goals no longer register. I'm assuming it's a sensor issue, but not sure how to fix this. Any advice would be appreciated.

Can anyone help with this? Here are some pics from underneath the table, to give a better idea of what I'm working with. I've never seen of nor heard of that brand of air hockey table. Any pictures of the table and model/serial number nameplate?

Looks like you're dealing with a microswitch sensor.

To test if the switch is the problem:

1. Remove power.

2. Scratch through the clear protective coating (if any) covering the microswitch PCB connection points (red arrows) to expose bare solder/metal.

3. Assuming this system uses a normally open switch, a multimeter should show no continuity between the points unless and until the switch is pressed.

4. Restore power.

5. When you short the points, the scoring electronics should register a goal.
- If it does, there is probably an electrical or mechanical problem with the microswitch/lever arm/linkage.
- If it doesn't, the problem is probably in the scoring electronics.
