Hi guys - I am considering going the vertically mounted 40 inch LED TV trick to get a nice 4:3 square as some have done around here.
Due to cab dimensions, I would need to move the picture position high up, I cannot use it centered as it would be sitting too low in the monitor space. I can’t move the monitor up.
Would it be possible to do this? I know you are able to do this via software with AMD or Nvidia, but only if you’re using an analog connection. It would be HDMI for me.

Bump - guys please help here. I’m trying to go the cheapest route here to get a common CRT size that was common for arcades (26-27 inch picture) for my cab without having to scrap the whole thing and start over.
This is a significant price difference between picking up a 400 dollar 40 inch TV or having to spend 1600 on a completely new cab flat pack set up and 32 inch 16:9 monitor.
I know on CRT’s the service menu had the options to adjust the picture to the right or left as much as you wanted.
I’m wondering if this is possible on new HDMI displays, either with an additional component or do service menu’s on new TV’s have this feature? I can’t seem to find anything on google about this. I was able to get into the service menu for my Samsung flatscreen and it did not have any option to adjust picture position. If this is not possible I can’t go the rotated TV set up and would be forced to start a whole new cab over. :(

As far as I’ve read Analog is the only way to make those adjustments. Perhaps someone who’s gone through the experience could give you more guidance.

If you are in America, why not spend $500 on a new 29" CRT tri-sync arcade monitor. It seems like a more sensible way to achieve what you want. Betson has some.
I can't help with what you asked about except to say that mame now has image size and position controls. They are worth a try I guess. But seriously, get the crt instead.
