I've decided to get back in the hobby again. I have converted about 6 arcade cabinets into MAME cabinets in the past but have not done a full project in about 5 or so years. All of my machines have used an I-Pac or Opti-Pacs. Are there any new encoders or other technology that you may think I should know about in the last few years? I would love to hear any comments good or bad about what might be on the market. Any help is appreciated. Thanx.

I still like the I-pac for more serious project but have had no issues with the cheep zero delay joysticks encoders but others here seem to have had issues with them.
You may want to look into the KeyWiz if your just want to try something new. I haven't used one yet but I like GGG in general.

If you want to try "rolling your own" with an AVR or Arduino, check out the KADE miniArcade 2.0 thread here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,154126.0.html). ;D

I use jpac. All of altimarcs encoders are similar. They are programable key encoders but now has a firmware for joystick encoder too! Still the best.
