Title: Pi SD Card help needed
Post by: ballboff on January 04, 2019, 05:00:14 am
Hi I wonder if anybody would be able to help me.  I've just bought an old pi board (1A+) and it would appear that my sd card isn't working so well, and i'm having issues getting it to switch on (I get both the red and green constant light).  My sd card is split into multiple partitions and I don't know how to wipe it back to its normal state, as I've been trying to install NOOBS on it, but it says I just have to copy the contents of the zip file to the sd card, but I can't do that as my main partition is only 128 meg or something.  My first instinct is to use another sd card, but i've only got a spare 128 meg card and an 8 gig one i'm using in my pi3 board arcade machine which I don't want to tamper with.  I don't want to format my existing card that I use for my pi3 as it is fully working and I formatted it years ago, i've done all sorts of modifications on it and couldn't even remember how to get it back to how it was if anything was to go wrong.

Thanks for your help.  Yes I've followed both those routes, and it's as suspected... i've been sent a duff card.  I tried with my pi3 card and while it didn't boot up into emulation station, it at least switched on and booted me to the prompt.
