Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm thinking about building some individual control panels for skme specific games and I'm wondering if these would be a good alternative to a $40 iPac.

I have used them a bunch. I do have problems with using 2 of them at once though, if you unplug them and reconnect sometimes they are in the wrong order (p1 becomes p2 etc.) I think someone made a fix for that available somewhere on this site.

Thanks for the info. Sorry about the broken link.

So I got a couple of these in the mail today and I have a question. . . do the connections for the buttons corospond to a letter on a keyboard like an iPac or to something else?

The ZD encoder is a gamepad encoder that can only output joystick directions/buttons.
The I-Pac (2015 or newer) is a hybrid keyboard/optical (mouse)/gamepad encoder that can output keystrokes, mouse movements/buttons, or joystick directions/buttons.
There's more info regarding the five categories of encoders on this wiki page backup (https://web.archive.org/web/20150625045756/http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=Encoders).

I've used the zero delay boards. They work great. I like them.
It's gotten so easy for cabinet builders.
I remember the days of keyboard hacks.

Them dark days, I still have my keyboard hack laying around.

I have a few real encoders, and I use these for all hot swap control panels, and/or smaller projects for others... then I moved it to my main arcade machine a while ago (initially for ease, but it's still there).
