Title: Trying to shut down Pandora’s Box 4s+
Post by: Oilers19 on December 24, 2018, 01:51:54 pm
Hello,

I’m a new member and I am currently finishing up my arcade cabinet, just missing a couple things but other than that it’s good to go.

Currently, I’m running a Pandora’s Box 4s+ for the time being until I am able to get a computer to run hyper spin.
With that being said, does anybody know how to shut down a Pandora’s box? The only way I can do it is literally unplugging the extension cord to the peer supply but on top of that, I have to unplug the jamma harness then plug it back in to turn on.

Is there anyway around this? Any hot keys available? Is it just standard that you can’t do this with any of the Pandora’s boxes?

Thanks in advance!

Jamma boards are meant to be shut off when the cabinet powers off, you need to wire a power switch into your cabinet, or just unplug the whole thing.

I figured that would be the case, just can’t seem to find any info on how to do it. It’s still weird that if I unplug it that I have to unplug the jamma harness just to restart it cause if I just unplug my extension cord to it and plug it back in then nothing comes up on my screen.

Why are you plugging it in if you are also powering it with a JAMMA harness?  One or the other, not both.

I have an extension cord running to a power bar, from there I got it powering my tv, lights and the 12v transformer which is powering the Pandora’s box. It’s all just temporary.

Just to be clear, the jamma harness does not have a power supply? As in you built this cabinet yourself and didn't plug the board into an old cabinet?

In any case the problem is certainly from the transformer you have powering it.

Also, there is one clear way to fix this problem. Take the box, throw it in the trash, as long as you are in the trash dig yourself out an old PC, anything from the last 15 years is fine. Then use that, it will be so much better than the box is.

Lol I know I need a PC, I’m not very liquid at the moment money wise. I separated my shoulder over 4 months ago and I’m finally going back to work in January but when I’m back at work I’m gonna by a PC. Like I said the Pandora’s box is just temporary.

Yes I built the cab from scratch on my own, everything is brand new

I really do mean ANYTHING. Go post on facebook and ask if anyone has an old computer they would give you, whatever you get will be better than that box is.
