Title: Anyone use those IDE or SATA to SD card adapters?
Post by: Osirus23 on November 20, 2018, 01:18:00 pm
Have a couple cabs and other PCs from the early 00s and I was thinking about picking up some of those adapters that let you use an SD card as a hard drive through an IDE or SATA connection. Anyone use these? Looking for recommendations or feedback. Amazon and eBay searches return a ton of results.

I have not. I have a modded Dreamcast IDE -> CF. People have an issue booting from SD. Not sure if the same applies for your scenario, but look into it.

I've got one in my ps2.  Seems to work pretty good and it wasn't particularly expensive.

I went through a ton of different options trying to convert my a51:S4 cab.

My advice is google search your specific cab first!

Some cabs will accept adapters some wont!

Mine would not accept a IDE to SD/CF adapter but a regular A51 cab will.

I did get a flash solution for mine in the end that consisted of using a IDE to SATA adapter then using a SATA memory module which works perfect.
