It's crazy how sometimes the smallest of details make a huge impact.
I'm forever tinkering with my coin-op projects, making small adjustments
to get the best user experience. I often forget that all be it I know what is
on my cabinets and how they work, the general user doesn't.
They want to descend upon the man cave (IE - kid cave, IE wife cave) and simply play.
I've done small things like rig my foosball table with a coat hanger to make it free play.
I've finally gone into all the Mortal Kombat games and fixed my button configurations and game volume.
With my Jukebox I neglected one MAJOR thing......the genre tag.
I know what's on my jukebox and I know where to find it.
Just this past weekend the wife and I were downstairs playing some
games and listening to some tunes. She went over to the jukebox and
called to me, "This is all the reggae you have?" So I walked over and looked,
I told her "no, I have more reggae." But when she had selected the genre it did
not populate as I had not tagged it as such. It was the same issue when she wanted
to hear some Latin infused tunes. All be it I knew what I had and what folder/artist
to locate it she would need to scroll thru nearly 1000 artists to locate it.
So I figured it was time to fix this. I've started the process of going thru all
the artists and fixing the genre. It's quite a task..... but an important one !
I think it will greatly improve the overall user experience. So much of the music was
tagged with random tags, Cypress Hill was classified as "stoner music" as opposed to "hip-hop."
Now I'm near complete the process of tagging each and every artist. I didn't break things down
into different sub-genre's, so Hip-Hop is Hip-Hop, no further categories for Golden Age Hip Hop,
or 80's and 90's Hip Hop. I'm quite happy with that.
Side note ------ I use TouchJams and it is awesome. Once I've got everything done and tagged
I'll work on my own custom thumbnails for the genre screen.

I guess if you properly tagged all the reggae music that'd make it a lot easier to delete all that garbage.

LOL! I try and have something for everyone. I used to DJ, so I'm into all kinds of music...mostly house music and hip-hop..... But a lil of everything makes for a good experience in my opinion.
What I'd like to do is get Touchjams installed on my Windows tablet and point it to all the music on my network. This way I can use it outside with my outdoor and Bluetooth speaker.
That project is still on the list though.
