Title: Finished Project : Build a MAME MACHINE
Post by: simbamame on November 11, 2018, 09:38:54 am
Well after about 2 months (  which included a week away on holiday in Benidorm ) my Mame Arcade Machine is finished ( more or less ). Obviously GameEx needs installing and maybe a fill in under the speaker panel but apart from that im pretty happy with it, especially as ive used no fancy tools and build it for less that a few Hundred Pounds. :-)

You can watch all about it here ...

I love your cabinet style, but the control panel surface is this little alien bit that doesn't mesh with the rest. On that size and style of cabinet the panel should just ride between the sides and not stick out anywhere. Poking it past the edges doesn't add anything, it looks funny to anyone who is really familiar with the arcade hobby and it creates weak points, which is why the original manufacturers didn't make them that way.

I agree with paigeoliver, though if doing such a type of panel, rounding the back corners, and extending the panel far enough forward to cover the top of the ledge it is resting on would look neater.

I also concur with the above comments,  Get it back in between the sides and not extended out the front and you will have a much cleaner end product :)
