Title: mm6 tube amp

my mm6 with tube amp  has developed a fault. when powered on it will blow the main fuse and trip the tube amp breaker. it has functioned great until the weather now turned cool in my temporarily unheated shop. what part is first to diagnose  and where should I start troubleshooting?

Hello Baldnic,

Check to 110 volt mains wiring to the amplifier for any shorts on the cable.
Check the amplifier for any obvious overheating of componants around the rectifying valve (or substituted diode pack).

The volages on the amplifier are going to be 300 plus volts DC so be careful, my avice is to send the amplifier to a Rowe Ami specialist to be tested/repaired.

If the amplifier has NOT been rebuilt/recapped, I would advise you to send it off for repair rebuilding. Do NOT use that amplifier until you do so. Otherwise a shorted component in the amplifier can take out an expensive or hard to find power transformer or output transormer.
