well dont get me wrong i love my new gauntlet dark legacy machine, but i did get a pretty good deal on it (500) for a 4 player fully working 27inch setup. so im thinking maybe i should ebay it and see if i can make a little profit on that, then with that money i could buy a pimp computer setup with a 19inch viewable monitor and make my MAME cab. Plus theres a lot of bemani import games i want to make custom controls and things for. plus when i have the gauntlet need i can just buy the PS2 version and use my PS2 hacked setup for it (which i plan on making, dont have yet).
do you guys think ill make some profit on ebay? paid 500, i see gauntlet 1 machines going for that much. what do you think
-
or do you think it would be better selling the boards/HD for gauntlet? but i have no idea what they would go for
-
hmm 49 view and no replies.. come on people!

You might be better off asking that sort of question in the RGVAC new group (http://groups.google.com/groups?dq=&num=25&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=rec.games.video.arcade.collecting&safe=off&start=0)...
You might even be able to offload what you want there (without the hastle of ebay).
Do a search on the new group & see if you can find any price info on what your machine would go for... Then post asking for a "price check" & ask kindly if anyone knows the market value of the machine.
Good luck!

I'm actually pretty suprised that you're already considering selling it. How long have you had it? A week?

Try to sell the boards and then mame the cab, the cabinet was a conversion to start with and its not really a rare game or anything. Just my 2 cents
-
If you really want to, put a reserve price on it and see how much you'll get.
Shipping an arcade game SUCKS. Worse case scenario, I would gut the whole thing (monitor and all) and sell all of the parts on ebay. The monitor and all of the baords should get you backa decent amount of your original investment, and you'll still have the controls and cabinet for maming
-
I would sell the boards on eBay and MAME it.
Though, I'd keep the 17" arcade monitor and get an Ultimarc ArcadeVGA board and a J-Pac to drive it.
BTW, I think that your cabinet might have been an X-Men machine at one time...
-
Here's the control panel. Notice the button placement is the same.
-
And here's your cabinet for those people who haven't been following this saga...
-
Wow... Good eye!

hmm, wow that definately looks like an X-men.
I have to find out what kind of monitor i have, im gonna give wells gardner a call and see if they can help me out. gauntlet is supposed to have a medium res monitor but it can also be played on a switchable and im not sure which mine is, if it can switch to standard then maybe ill MAME it
-
The button layout on the CP is a bit different, in the X-Men the buttons are rotated for the 3rd and 4th players, in the Gauntlet they all face the front.

If you get an ArcadeVGA board, I don't think it matters what you have.
It should just work. In fact, I think that medium res is actually better
for a MAME machine. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
What's the model number info on your monitor?

My bad, I stand corrected. The ArcadeVGA is only for 15KHz monitors.
However, many med res monitors have the capability of being switched
to standard res. Post your monitor info and I'm sure someone
will know.
-
well i did post over there they found out the model but were not sure if its switchable
-
Are you sure that's a 27" and not a 25"? Because those cabinets came with a 25" monitor originally.
Did you find out if yours is medium or standard res? I'm looking for a 25" medium res if you decide to part yours out.
Thanks,
Wade

it probably is a 25inch since its not the dedicated gauntlet and i dont think a 27 would fit in the older machines not made for it. still didnt find out what res it is or if its switchable though, maybe ill give them a call today
-
If you take a photo of the back of it we can probably help you figure out which model it is. If it is a Wells Gardner then it likely isn't switchable resolution.

if i sold it i would probably only sell it as a whole. i dont really have a use for a 4 player massive MAME cabinet. im MAMEing my gutted robocop cab i just got and it will have swappable panels and consoles all in 1, so the only machines i would want beside it are other dedicated cabs. but anyway, i think im just very impulsive and probably wont sell my gauntlet for at least a year or 2. I was just thinking hmm i have a 500+$ piece of machinery in my garage that could fund my MAME machine but i dunno.
pretty much this thread was pointless, but fun =P
