Title: Where to get more colors of pushbuttons?
Post by: nipsmg on February 06, 2004, 08:38:30 am
Hey everyone..

My cabinet's always completed, and to keep with the theme, I'm looking to do primarily black, blue, and light blue buttons.  I've seen light blue and blue buttons before..

Problem is, I can't find them!?  Happs sells (according to their website) :
Red, White, Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow, Black, Orange.

Where the heck can I get other colors? :)

Maybe the photos are not very well illuminated, but I believe they are light green, not light blue ...

Anyway, you can always get white and paint them ...  ;D

OK found light blue pushbuttons..

http://www.coinopexpress.com/products/parts/push_button/33mm_Concave_Push_Button_with_PCB_%28welded%29_2299.html

Are these the same size cosmetically on the top as Happs Pushbuttons?

WTF is with the connection??!? (I can solder, but it's weird??!)

Will the white buttons take dye?

I seem to remember reading about someone dyeing plastic to get specific weird colors.

Wico USED to sell a light blue button, but they dropped it.

You can get new WICO buttons from www.groovygamegear.com.  The other colors are pretty similar to Happ, but RandyT said the Blue is more of a bluish/purple shade.

I know some of the Japanese buttons come in lime green and pink and maybe aqua, but not sure who sells them.

Otherwise, maybe E-bay.

I have one light blue button in my parts box, so someone used to make them. I'd like to find a source for more.

I am assuming you sent a PM to "motorfish" asking him where he got his lightblue and blue buttons.....correct?

I got my buttons from wico a few months ago, and the blue ones were sort of washed out looking.  They gave me the most trouble too.  The other buttons seemed fine, but the blue ones were slightly too large for the nuts to hold them in place -- Enough to wish I had gotten a button wrench with them.  (Wico was out of stock at the time)

  Good luck in your serach.

This may not really help ya much but there is one ebay seller selling light blue buttons in a package with other things here...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3271601247&category=13718

Maybe you can email him (via ebay) and see what he can do to sell you just the buttons...

I know Motorfish from another message board, and PM'ed him there a while back about button colors.  He told me he got his stuff from Happs, so I'm assuming those colors are no longer availiable. :(

The Real Bob Roberts (http://www.therealbobroberts.com) has some pastel blue looking leaf switch buttons.
I don't know how these would feel mixed in with microswitch ones though.

Weird. It looks like the setup I used to have, red, white, & Blue buttons.. but the blue ones I have are much darker than that.. Maybe they just look light with a flash.. I got ultimates w/ blue handles, and the blue is a bit lighter than I expected (which is a good thing actually), so maybe I'll just get all blue buttons from Happs and call it a night?

I'm actually partial for microswitch pushbuttons compared to leaf, so.. -- grr who knows.. this hobby is a money pit ;D

this hobby is a money pit
NipsMG

I disagree with that.
I've always felt that a TRUE money pit has to give you no return on the money.
I consider this more of an "investment" in FUN.

Then again my view could be distorted by the '79 Ford I owned once.
THAT was a money pit!
I replaced pretty much everything from the grill to the tailpipe at least once; and, in the end, I STILL has a beat-up ugly truck, so...
