Hey everyone,
I have an old cabinet I purchased many years ago which sat in my garage for a long time. I've just recently started looking at it again and have a question.
The cabinet is wired as follows:
Main Power Source --> Isolation Transformer.
From the transformer it splits to the switching power supply for the controls and to the monitor.
My question is, should the transformer only be between the main power and monitor, or is it ok to be between the switching power supply as well?
All diagrams I've ever seen have it only between the main power and monitor so I'm guessing that is the correct way.
Any information is appreciated.

If it is a 1:1 isolation transformer, AFAIK, all it does is remove reference to ground. Therefore I *believe* you'll have no problem, except you'll put extra load on it, which is not necessary.
Note: if you live in Europe, the PSU might have 220VAC input, while the monitor still expects 110VAC.
This is why in Europe we use 2:1 transformers only for the monitors and connect the PSU directly to mains, bypassing the transformer.

I'm in North America (Canada) so the main power is 120V.
I need to re-wire the cabinet anyway, so I'll probably change it, but I was curious as to whether it has been running incorrectly.
