Hello Guys
I just bought a Ultimarc trackball and the wire harness is a little too short to reach my IPAC2. I wonder if it’s advisable to extend the harness by soldering wire extension or should I buy the premade extension. It’s really not a matter of price (about 10$ from Ultimarc) but a matter of time, I would like to try it as soon as I can.
Thanks
Martin

Either method will work - another option would be to remove the existing wires from the connectors and replace with longer wires.

Do you mean replace the wire from the connectors inside the trackball ? I did not open it yet but I will have a look inside for sure.
Thanks

I haven't seen the inside of the ultimarc trackball - but should be possible to replace the wiring inside - when I commented I was thinking of the Happ trackball wiring harness

For it you could just remove the pins from the molex connectors and then replace with longer wires if you needed some extra length but didn't want the splices ( but splicing/soldering works also ! ) - Should be able to do the same with the Ultimark depending on how it is wired internally but would think it uses some type of connector on the wire ends ( If directly soldered internally might be easier to just splice rather than replace )

Thank you to take some time to help me. I will probably open the trackball to see how it's connected inside and I will decide from there which way I go. Is molex pins are reusable ? I guess not. I never really modified a molex harness before.
Thanks again
