Title: Daytona USA 3 - Using 360 Controller
Post by: Housemusic on July 08, 2018, 04:32:17 pm
Hi all,

I tried to use a standard wired XBox 360 controller with Daytona USA 3 on my PC (Haswell + Nvidia 1060). The game runs fine but it doesn't recognize the 360 controller. I've done:

- patched the exe (Offset 0xDCA97:    0F 85 BC 00 00 00 38 05 C8 F9 5A 01 0F 85 B0 00 00 00  to  90 90 90 90 90 90 38 05 C8 F9 5A 01 90 90 90 90 90 90)
- tried no launcher (started the Daytona.exe directly)
- tried D3Launcher3.3 (Howard Casto Launcher)
- tried D3LauncherCL V1.4

Nothing worked. My X360 controller is the only controller at my PC and works fine with other XInput games. The controller can also be configured via the control panel. But Daytona 3 doesn't recognize it at all, means not even the start button.

Any further suggestions what I can try?

Thanks

Tried no launcher and running Daytona USA 3 directly is actually THE mistake to have it not working.

If you need the working launcher that I use, look up Howard Casto Daytona Championship USA launcher. Make sure to read the instructions of using the launcher when you have it. (It's rather simple, actually)

Otherwise, check your controller. Are you sure it is an official XInput?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, it's the official Microsoft 360 wired controller, hence Xinput compatible. I found the issue meanwhile, the controller was configured as player 2 according the controller ring lights. Changing the USB port and rebooting the machine helped to assign the controller to player 1.

I run the game with the Howard Casto Launcher and it works now. Next step is to find the right adjustment of the analog stick for steering the car. Daytona 3 controls are pretty sensitive compared using the same controller with Daytona USA 2 via Supermodel 0.2a.
