im with a tv show in the san francisco bay area. we're a show called "gamer nation". (www.gamernationtv.com) we're doing a piece on emulaiton, and specifically about people who have made their own cabinets. do you want to be on the show to talk about your cabinet or emulation? do you live in the bay area, or know of anyone who does that has made their own cabinet? if so, please email me at ricky_borba@ourtribeproductions.com.

Got a budget to fly out to Minnesota? I'll even buy the lutefisk.

If they end up filming someone whose cabinet has an x-arcade or hotrod on it, well, I think I will just find a new hobby. :'(

What channel will this be on?

Yes - can we please give an approval of the person's handiwork before the show airs? ;)

Yeah... the techtv "mame cab" appearances have been less than impressive. The term prefabricated, half-arsed, slapped together p.o.s. comes to mind.

Consider looking at some of the better examples and asking them directly...
1up is coming to mind.
95% of the cabinets here are based on others designs... Even if slightly modified.
Very few are really custom.
You might also consider asking a few who refurb older machines... It takes another set of skills....

1up is perfect. Not only does he have, arguably, the best cabinet in the scene but it is 100% custom. Some of the others that could give his some competition stood on his shoulders and used elements of his design (like Frosty's and, when I finish, mine). Plus, he's about to make plans and templates, etc. available for purchase and this would give him some great, and deserved publicity.
Besides the quality of his cab, though, I think he lives in California...L.A. comes to mind, but I'm not sure. At any rate, one of the best MAME cabs ever made is practically local if your show is filmed in San Francisco.

I will join you :'(
Anybody wanna record the thing and post the video online ?
I wanna see who's cab they will be filming and everything.

Is the content of this thing going to be edited in such a way as to highlight the cab rather than MAME itself...I'm not sure MAME, MAMEDEV, Saint, and all the rest of us need too much attention from anything remotely RIAAish...

I can cap it and host it.
Would just need the info.
