Hi, New to the forum and hoping someone out there may be able to help me, I've just bought a countertop Megatouch XL Titanium with a fault, it boots up fine but then displays in a big red box "system shutdown call distributer" from what I can find on line it's due to a theft deterrent
Anybody know how can reset this
Thanks
Gary

try a "memory clear" set the red dipswitch bank on the IO board... switches 4 & 7 remove the security key and boot up the machine
once the screen indicates "No security key detected" re-install the security key and allow the machine to boot again. this may clear this out.
failing that, you may have to reinstall the software

Looks like I've got 2 banks of dip switches ?????

oops, my bad... i'm tired :D
give THIS a try...
Keyboard clear – DOS operating system. Hard drive based games only.
XL: Gold, Platinum & Titanium(2) / Maxx: 1st release, 2K+, Diamond(2) & Emerald(2) / Force 2002(5)
-Turn off the game.
-Plug in the keyboard into the top port PS2 or purple PS2 port and then power the game up.
-Allow the game to boot up into the first menu screen.
-Press the ESC key. The screen should display C: MERIT2\
-Type in cd.. And press ENTER. C:\ prompt will appear.
-Type in del nvram.dat and press ENTER. C:\ prompt will reappear.
-Turn off the game and unplug the keyboard, then turn the game back on.
Note: If Bad Command or File name appears, the del nvram.dat was not typed correctly.

You emailed me on April 9. Gave you the same response. Im assuming you didn't try it or it didn't work?
-
Apologies Mike, Tesco have shut down their email site and I must have deleted your mail while trying to swap my emails over, I did try it but I can't seem to get into it I press escape but it doesn't do anything
I've also got a Force machine doing the same

I think force you need to repeated press ALT.

Are you using a ps/2 keyboard?
-
Hi guy's
Just tried repeatedly pressing alt on the Force, still no joy :-(
Yeah it is a PS2 keyboard with the purple connector, think I'll try and get a new one though as this was sat in a cupboard gathering dust so not 100% sure of it's condition although it does bleep when I press the keys
I really appreciate your help guy's, me and my brother really got into these on many a vacation over to the states
-
On the titanium, try holding down both shift keys or repeatedly pressing f8 before the machine starts booting. This used to work for msdos to bypass the start up scripts.
-
Nice one Mike, the 2 shift keys got me in on both the Titanium and the force
Just had to re-calibrate the touch screen on the force because it was kind of back to front
Both seem to have pretty much the same games on, I might have a look at upgrading as I can't see my favourite game on either :-( but there's a few good ones on there I remember
-
Glad to hear it's working. If the shift trick worked for the Force machine, it must be DOS-based, aka Force 2002....Titanium was released the same year so it makes sense they have the same games.
Force can be upgraded to 2011, but Titanium was the last update the XL got.
