Long time lurker, first time poster.
Long time dream finally realised over Christmas, but only got round to uploading now. Vertical only for golden age games and vertical bullet hell shooters.
Build based on Vigolix design (obviously!). Difference is all corners sanded and rounded. Painted red, varnished with spray varnish, used Posca pens to draw cherry blossom on arcade.
Hardware is Seimitsu LS-56 joystick, Seimitsu PS-14 screw in buttons, Dell 19" monitor with an RPi3 powering it all. Desktop speakers mounted behind monitor (thanks for that idea Delusional!), glass look perspex in the front.
First arcade anything I ever made from scratch, first piece of woodwork ever. I'm pretty chuffed with it.

Nice! The art threw me till I zoomed the pics, then I got it. Nice job!

Went from “nope” to “hm, I like it” when I clicked on the pics.
Looks good, bro.

Yeah, it's definitely something different. I wanted to go for something a bit more organic and arty rather than 'bro' and traditional, as it were. Thanks!

If you are not going traditional arcade then go bold and original. I like it. Nice paint job.

I would black out the bezel (I know, hard to do after hand painting it) just to break up the cherry blossoms a bit, but I do like the end result.
Did you take an in progress build pics?

As for that last picture...hmm - the perils of spray varnishing indoors during a UK winter!

great pics! You could always just do it with posterboard to see what it looks like without actually painting =)
