Anyone know what would cause these symptoms?

The monitor is flickering dim, bright, dim, etc etc and sometimes cuts out completely.
Any help would be appreciated!

looks like you have this connected to a PC of some description.
the monitor you have requires the RGB levels to be 5 volts whereas the output from the computer VGA is only 1 Volt RGB and you will have to use a video amp to boost the signal to the proper level.
you will need to source something like the Jpac or some other other RGB video amp to get things up where they should be.

I do in fact currently have it hooked up to a PC, but the problem has only recently started?
I have a video amplifier on order (that I ordered before this problem). I'll see if it does anything.
Could it have worked perfectly fine for a few days and then all of the sudden have this issue?

kinda looks like a loose connection somewhere, but i don't know enough to say it isn't being caused by something else.

yeah, it's strange, I just tapped lightly around with a wooden dowel in a few key spots to see if anything would change. Sure enough the monitor seems to be working the way it was again... Not sure if it was a coincidence or if i actually tapped something that has a poor connection.
one thing i also notice is the screen has a very slight "bounce" to it randomly.
The bounce seemed to have gotten a little better as well...
Not sure what i should do because I have a feeling the bounce and the problem in the video will be back. I really doubt i solved it by tapping it with a stick... but who knows, lol

bad solder joints on the crt socket are common but could be anywhere on these chassis

I recapped the monitor since it was still using the oem caps. I also replaced the flyback. Things look great now!
The only problem though is the Horizontal width coil never seemed to work. The weird thing is, even though it didn't work, it must have failed on the proper width because it was perfect. Now, after I recapped the monitor the width is too wide??
Did I do something wrong or did replacing the caps somehow adjust the width also? Is that possible?
Any help would be appreciated

... original problem is still there. Sigh.

width coil gives a few cms adjustment max, there is a width jumper for greater range
ms8-26 are not keen on non standard 15k/25k inputs, the custom sync ic fail

Problem solved after resoldering the part below.
Hopefully it helps someone in the future.
