Title: Cabinet Interior: Paint vs. bare wood
Post by: bperkins01 on February 10, 2018, 08:59:52 am
Hi,

Looking for opinions here - I'm leaning toward painting the interior flat black.
That do people typically do?

Any benefit?  or am I overthinking it?  (which is common for me)
Thanks!

on a new cab? you can leave it bare.  When I get old cabs, if they smell, I put a coat of primer on the inside to "seal it" , after I give it a good scrubbin.

Real machines were not painted on the inside other than overspray.

.   OUCH, The truth hurts .....  Jenn was going to leave the bottom bare and paint the sides on her project.  After much thought on this, I began to wonder if all bare wood (exept the overspray) wasn't done to not only save materials and speed up production but to help reflect ambient light in the cab back to unlit inserts during gameplay.

Thanks all!

I may spray the edges where the T-Molding will go so that any small gaps are hidden.
I'll be leaving things bare wood.
Good info.
thx

Come to think of it, some of the 70s stuff was actually painted black on the inside. I think that was back when they thought that a new video game would see 10+ years on location like pins and other EM stuff did. It took a little while before they figured out that the games basically had a 1 year half-life on location.

Paint it.  Looks better and makes it beer spill resistant.  Also easier to find dropped screws and such.
