there are 9 pins near the end of the board that i can't find any documentation on... ???

I always thought it was for the Console adapter.
https://www.ultimarc.com/console.html (https://www.ultimarc.com/console.html)
The site says the A-Pac and I-pac boards are universal and the I-pac info states the following.
The I-PAC2 has 32 inputs. They are all programmable and are marked as 2 joysticks, 8 buttons each, plus coin1, coin2, start1, start2 and Mame control keys. Any inputs can be assigned as a shift key to access an alternate code set. This board also has a connector which can be configured to plug our trackball and spinner into, or for our console interfaces.

But also this is on the site for the iPAC-4
Note the 9-pin header on the I-PAC 4 is for factory use only.
So maybe its nothing...

On the A-PAC these pins are only used by us to load firmware to the board and test.
5V and GND can be sourced from these if required though.

That's exactly what i was hoping for!!! Could you please diagram or describe which pins to use? Would it be enough to power 4 or 5 regular LEDs ~5V or less each?

This would power 5 LEDs without a problem.
