Title: How hard is it to wire a monitor to a arcadeVGA without using JPAC?

I have a potentially good deal on a machine with a working monitor and controls, just no board/power supply/wire harness.  now i would need to buy a arcadeVGA and a Ipac to connect this. the only thing i dont know how to do is wire the monitor to the arcadeVGA. they say on the ultimarc.com site that you can get a cable prelabeled and everything which would be good for me since i dont really like making pin connectors. the only thing i would need to know is the monitor pinout and connect it that way.  

is this hard? what exactly comes off the back of a monitor is it like a bunch of wires going to a harness and i would have to cut them and splice them into this connector i buy?   possibly anyone in NJ area who could help me with this if i end up getting it and im stuck or something?

Forgive me if I am wrong but doesn't the monitor need a power supply??

very easy--cut your monitor cable--identify your pins (based on ultimarcs pinout) and hard wire to the monitor chassis --red signal to red signal, blue to blue etc. (these are color signals not the color of the wire--just so there's no confusion)  I went from the arcadevga to a K7191 with no video amplification and the picture is just fine.

to identify which wire to which pin, use a multimeter and set it to the lowest ohms reading.  when the needle zips or the numbers go to zero you know the pin you touched with one probe matches the wire you touched with the other--should take you about 15mins--and make sure you write it down.

im not sure... do i need a power supply for it? if so how would i wire it. i was just thinking that the PC power would be going to it... but maybe not

ACK--I missed that in your other post--do you know what monitor you have--model number, manufacturer? you will likely need an isolation transformer to power it up--but you had better confirm this before doing anything.  it does not run off pc power!  you had better do a bit more research on the monitor before proceeding further--if you want the quick and easy way (i.e. the dark side ;D) use a pc monitor.

My opinion on this is if you don't know what you're doing with an arcade monitor, get a TV or a PC monitor. I briefly considered using the arcade monitor that came in mine, but I quickly came to the realization that I can't play video games if I'm dead. A PC monitor will do me just fine.

yeah actually i just came to that conclusion, why go through all this trouble if i could just use a PC monitor and get a better picture anyway. So i emailed the guy and asked him if i could get just the cab for 50$. i was gonna get it with the monitor for 100$. both are good deals i think
