Title: Rowe R86
Post by: DaveN on January 27, 2018, 07:10:47 pm
I purchased a Rowe 86 Jukebox. I always check the battery in the Central Control Computer because I had one that leaked on the board and eat it up. I was surprised  to see a extra board under the cover it has a ribbon cable going to the socket where a chip would plug in. On the board it says it is a R6500/1 Alternate Bd Ass'y. The number on the computer is 6-08871-01. Can anyone tell me what this board is for.

Thank You

Dave

Hello Dave,

The reason for the board is a simple one, it was produced in the early 80's to replace the custom chip.
There was a fire in the factory that produced the original chips so the exspansion board was produced (very similar to the wallbox interface at the time) with a number of chips on it to do the same function.

My understanding is that it took almost a year before the factory started again with the original chips.
