Title: Mamelist.xml is giving me extreme anxiety

I am trying to generate a mamelist.xml or acquire one from somewhere but I can't seem to.

If I try to generate one I get the command prompt box running thousands of lines of code for about 30-45 minutes, but it outputs a 0kb xml file.  Yay.

I tried downloading a mamelist.xml but I can't seem to find one for whatever reason.  I tried the Hyperspin downloads section and I can get the full list of working games, the player count, etc, but in separate xml files, so it's not that useful.

I just want to make a full mamelist.xml for 0.192.

Do you mean the listxml?

You can make one by doing mame64 -listxml > Mamelist.xml, or you can download a premade one from the official site http://mamedev.org/release.php (http://mamedev.org/release.php) and get lx.zip .

Yes. Perhaps I am not certain of what it is that I need.  All I know is I did this a long time ago and I opened an XML into Dons Hyperfilter, it showed me all the games, player count,controls used, genre, etc.  The Mame.xml from hyperlist doesn't have all the info and I've been struggling to make an XML with all that info.  I want to be able to view it in Don's and prune out the games that don't work for me, (eg. games with a spinner controller).

So I downloaded that XML from the Mame site you linked, that is what is created when you run that listxml command? So I can use that list to somehow extract the data I need into one Mame.xml file for Hyperspin?

edit: omg I figured it out.... Thank you so much for that link.  In Filter Hyperlists.exe you just have to select that file as the 'mamelist.xml' and it populates all the info.

Oh good they are finally releasing it separately. Had so many front end install choke on that step it wasn't even funny.
